Woodstock 2010 Post-race news

Complete Our Post-Race Survey and You Could Win A Free Race

This year we will be awarding a free race entry to one of the athletes that completes our online post-race survey. Just complete the survey, tell us what you think of the race and your name will be entered into a draw for a free race. The Woodstock Post-Race Survey

Our Season Long Draw For 2010

Enter three or more races during the season and be eligible to win a prize in our Season Long Draw. There are over $10,000 in prizes so far with more to come.

Back again for a seventh year is our Season Long Draw. The prize line-up is impressive with prizes like a Specialized Transition Expert Bike, a CompuTrainer, a Zoot Synergy Wetsuit, Zoot Ultra TT shoes, (3) Zoot Tri bags, Timex Heart Rate monitors, coaching packages and more to come.

It's our way of thanking you for coming out to our races all year. With the draw being held at the end of October 2010 it means the more you race the better your chance to win. As you can see we are off to a fantastic start with the prize list so far. We will track your races and once you have entered THREE OR MORE RACES you are automatically entered. You also get additional chances to win by completing our post race survey.

We intend to keep adding prizes all year and will keep updating the prize list as the season progresses. The Season Long Draw page has all of the details.

Thank You To The Retailers and Sponsors At Woodstock

Woodstock Race Report & Results

Thanks to all athletes, volunteers and sponsors for coming out and making our debut Woodstock Triathlon Weekend such a phenomenal success. Despite the ominous forecast for wet weather during all of the races, we were treated to excellent race conditions over the course of the two days. If we could have done something about the wind during the bike, we would have, but even with that, all accounts indicate that the Woodstock site is a winner and an awesome start to our race season.

Saturday’s Sprint Duathlon saw Harold Walker - a multi-time winner in our series, taking the overall win. While Babara Eddy took the overall women's win by 2:34 margin. A pair of Torontonians took home wins in the Sprint Triathlon. Devon Labuik - a rising star on the Provincial scene - won the overall race in 1:00:52, and 20 year old Natalie Scadden used a 9:51 swim split to earn her win (1:10:32).  The afternoon consisted of the Splash and Dash races for the kids aged 3 to 15. We don't know who had more fun, the kids, the volunteers, or the spectators? Many thanks go out to MultiSport Zone for their instumental role in helping to put on these races.

On Sunday, the Weather Network forecasted rain for the entire day but it never materialized. However, while Mother Nature spared everyone in the precipitation department, she sure showed her power during the bike, giving the racers a slight taste of what a bike ride on Kona might be like. That didn’t stop Port Elgin’s R.J. Ross, as he cranked out a bike split that averaged 39.2 km/hr, then added a 28:01 top run split to take the overall win in 1:30:52. St. George’s Angela Quick led the women right out of the water (the third best swim split behind her brother Derek and R.J. Ross), and held that position right to the finish line (1:48:04). In the Duathlon, Lucy Elcome and Eric Thunack used top run splits to gain their victories. And in the final event of the day, local James Morrison took the overall win in the Give It A Tri, and Hamilton’s Nicole Sulewski won it for the women.

Make sure to visit MultiSport Canada Radio for post-race interviews with many of our race winners.

Congratulations go out to all our first timers, welcome to the Triathlon/Duathlon family.

Thanks also go out to the Preparing the Trail crew that were in attendance on Saturday to race and to plant a tree to mark our event. Make sure to check out their website to support their fundraising efforts, and to adopt the tree they planted at the race site. In keeping with our environmentally friendly race series, we also wanted to acknowledge Infinit Nutrition for providing biodegradable cups at all the aid stations.

Thanks for joining us at Woodstock, we hope to see you again this coming weekend at Binbrook.

A Reminder to all Athletes

Maintaining great relationships with the communities hosting our races is essential to ensuring that these races are successful and continue to exist. Therefore, athletes, please remember to be courteous out on the race course. Not only to volunteers and fellow racers, but also to the residents of the community you are racing in. And just like when you are out training, you need to share the road. It is a race but we do not own the road. Adopting the spirit of sharing and co-operation will make it a better experience for all.

Thanks To All Of Our Sponsors

We extend our thanks to each and every sponsor and the local bike, running and triathlon shops in the communities where you race. Race entry fees never cover the complete cost of a particular race or series of races and without the sponsors there is no race or race series that would survive without their support. We hope that you all take a moment to check out our Series Sponsors below or visit the sponsors page and see what they do and look at the products they sell. Please thank them for supporting the sports of Triathlon and Duathlon by trying and using their products. If you do visit them please take a moment to thank them for supporting Triathlon, Duathlon and Kids races in Ontario.
