Congratulations to Ed Dillon our You've Been Shot Award winner. On Saturday, Ed decided to push the limits of his fitness and completed 3 triathlons! Wasaga Beach Race Report & Results
The Triple Race Challenge
concluded at Wasaga Beach on Saturday. Port Elgin's RJ Ross and Halifax's
Brooke Brown secured the overall wins in the Challenge along with the $1000
first place prize.
Ross preserved his first place lead by winning the Olympic distance triathlon in 2:01:29 - largely accomplished by his 1:01:33 (39 km/hr avg) bike split. His final time for the three races (Welland Half Iron, Cobourg Olympic Tri, and Wasaga Olympic Tri) was 8:12:13. Peter Buehlow finished 6th overall at Wasaga (2:12:51) and second to RJ in the Challenge with a total time of 9:01:09.
Brown crossed the line in 2:24:11 to win the 30-34 age group and
finished first in the Challenge with a time of 9:42:02. Saskia Holditch held on
to second place in the challenge with a time of 10:52:34 and will collect $500
for her efforts. Visit the Triple Race Challenge Results Page for full results.
St. George's Angela Quick took the women's win in the Olympic Triathlon. She exited the water in 20:34, leading all competitors and she remained in front crossing the line in 2:17:51. Tony Morelli and Judy Quillin grabbed the overall wins in the Olympic distance Swim/Bike.

Much like his sister, Derek Quick led the swim (11:28) in the Sprint Triathlon, and then posted top 5 splits in the bike and run to win his second consecutive race (last one at Cobourg) in 1:07:30 – a five-minute margin of victory. North York’s Laura Pimm took her second win of the series (last winning at Gravenhurst) with the use of top swim and run splits to finish in 1:14:08, 1:08 ahead of the Jennifer Ogg of Aylmer.
Toronto's Michelle Lockyer used top run splits to win the Sprint Duathlon (1:13:03) by just 23 seconds over Rebecca Tirva (1:13:26) of Woodstock. While, Tiverton's Joe Chappell used a dominating 32:41 20 km bike to win the men’s race in 1:05:24. Thornhill's Jake Van Allen was just behind in 1:05:58, thanks to his race best-run times. Thornhill's Calvin Burgess (39:46) and London's Jasmina Demelo (43:17) won the GT 12.9, the final event of the day.

Our unofficial “Glutton for Punishment” Award goes to Edward Dillon of Mississauga (also our You've Been Shot Award winner). He completed 3 consecutive triathlons on Saturday - Yes, something like that is possible. With little time to spare in between races Edward started with the Sprint Triathlon, which he did in 1:27:25, he then moved on to the Olympic triathlon (2:47:29), and he finished with the GT 12.9 (56:29)
Toronto's Robert Esplin was a runner up for the award, the “slacker” only managed to win his age group in both the Sprint Duathlon and GT 12.9. Well-done gentlemen!
Also, 79 participants in Wasaga raised funds for the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. So far they have raised $79,000! You can see some of those participants at http://cgmhf.com/foundation_gallery.asp and www.mycollingwood.ca. They can still use donations to help them buy equipment their new Endoscopy Suite. To make a gift securely 24 hours a day, visit www.cgmhf.kintera.org or www.cgmhf.com
Congratulations go out to all our first timers, welcome to the Triathlon/Duathlon family.

Thanks for joining us at Wasaga Beach, we hope to see you again at our final sold out event of 2010 at Lakeside.

A Reminder to all Athletes
Maintaining great relationships with the communities hosting our races is essential to ensuring that these races are successful and continue to exist. Therefore, athletes, please remember to be courteous out on the race course. Not only to volunteers and fellow racers, but also to the residents of the community you are racing in. And just like when you are out training, you need to share the road. It is a race but we do not own the road. Adopting the spirit of sharing and co-operation will make it a better experience for all.
Thanks To All Of Our Sponsors
We extend our thanks to each and every sponsor and the local bike, running and triathlon shops in the communities where you race. Race entry fees never cover the complete cost of a particular race or series of races and without the sponsors there is no race or race series that would survive without their support. We hope that you all take a moment to check out our Series Sponsors below or visit the sponsors page and see what they do and look at the products they sell. Please thank them for supporting the sports of Triathlon and Duathlon by trying and using their products. If you do visit them please take a moment to thank them for supporting Triathlon, Duathlon and Kids races in Ontario.
