Iconic Watch Brand Launches Timex Tracker App in Support of International Events

Timex, the leader in outdoor and sports performance timepieces, announced the launch of the Timex® Tracker, an application developed to enhance the race day experiences for athletes and spectators worldwide.

The Timex® Tracker will give competitors a unique race experience by allowing them to share their race day progress with family and supporters. The tracker enables athletes to submit target finishing times and race day goals, and share them with Facebook friends before and during the race.  In addition, race day updates will be posted on the athlete’s Facebook page and race supporters will have the ability to track and cheer the athletes in real-time. The first race in Canada that the app will be available at is the Barrelman Triathlon, taking place on September 21st in the Niagara Falls region.

The Barrelman Triathlon is a first year event of MultiSport Canada.  “Multisport is excited to be working with our long-standing partner, Timex Group Canada, to bring this feature to Canada.  We are sure that our Barrelman athletes and their followers will find it a great addition to their experience,” commented John Salt, President, Multisport Canada.

How the Timex® Tracker works:

  • Using their race bib number, athletes register for the Timex® Tracker app on Facebook
  • Athletes wear a time chip during the race, which is synched to the Timex® Tracker
  • The tracker updates the athlete’s time during certain checkpoints throughout the course and actual race times are shared on the athlete’s Facebook timeline
