Our Season Long Draw For 2010
Enter three or more races during the season and be eligible to win a prize in our Season Long Draw. There are over $10,000 in prizes so far with more to come.
Back again for a seventh year is our Season Long Draw. The prize line-up is impressive with prizes like a Specialized Transition Expert Bike, a CompuTrainer, a Zoot Synergy Wetsuit, Zoot Ultra TT shoes, (3) Zoot Tri bags, Timex Heart Rate monitors, coaching packages and more to come.
It's our way of thanking you for coming out to our races all year. With the draw being held at the end of October 2010 it means the more you race the better your chance to win. As you can see we are off to a fantastic start with the prize list so far. We will track your races and once you have entered THREE OR MORE RACES you are automatically entered. You also get additional chances to win by completing our post race survey.
We intend to keep adding prizes all year and will keep updating the prize list as the season progresses. The Season Long Draw page has all of the details.
The Only Series With Personalized Race Awards
MultiSport Canada Triathlon Series makes sure we offer something special for race day award winners. As an age group winner, not only do you receive a medal but a FREE personalized Finishers Picture Award with the date, race location and your time. No other race or series provides this sort of award. Here is an award sample. For a larger version just click on the picture.
After each race, you will receive an email from My Sports Shooter – Mike Cheliak. The email will contain links to any photos that were identified as you (by bib) and will also contain a custom coupon code. Your code is used at checkout and will deduct either $5 or $10 from your purchase.
If you were a top three finisher recognized at the awards; your coupon code is valued at $10. For all other participants in the adult venues, your coupon code is valued at $5. You can use your coupon code towards the purchase of any product offered by My Sports Shooter. For top three finishers, you MUST put your stats in the comments section at checkout in order to get the custom virtual clock layout. If not, your photo will be sent to you as is.
Please note that ALL COUPONS ARE VALID FOR ONE WEEK FROM THE DATE OF ISSUE. There will be no exceptions.
My Sports Shooter - You’ve Been Shot Award

Congratulations to Grant Hagerty our You've Been Shot Award winner for Lakeside. Grant tried to race under the radar on Saturday but thanks to a fellow racer (Thanks Chris!) we discovered that Grant has a very special story. Four years ago, Grant was close to death due to an autoimmune disorder that attacked his lungs. Thanks to someone's decision to be an organ donor, he recieved a double-lung transplant and he is with us today. What an incredible celebration of life and fitness. We salute you Grant, and you will get a copy of the full resolution 8x10 digital file of your award. Contact Mike Cheliak to claim your picture. You can read more about Grant here.
Thank You To The Retailers and Sponsors At Lakeside
We would not be able to provide the quality of races and draw prizes without the sponsors and retailers who support our series. Please check out all of the Series Sponsors at the end of this newsletter. Special thanks to the retailers and sponsors who were at the race or contributed draw prizes this weekend. They were:

Lakeside Race Report & Results
The Lakeside Triathlon Weekend certainly provided a perfect ending to the MultiSport Canada Triathlon Series 2010 Season.
The sold out weekend kicked off
Saturday with the Sprint Duathlon and Triathlon events. And while racers rode a
shorter than planned bike course, and duathletes endured a little extra
distance on the second run (changes are reflected in the updated race results),
the crisp morning featured some fast racing.
Derek Quick won his third race in a row
(Wasaga and Cobourg being the others) in the Sprint Triathlon. As usual, he emerged
first out of the water, and even though Cam Black and Luke Ehgoetz made up
ground on the bike, Derek threw down the fastest run split (19:42) to secure
the win. Much like Quick, Laura Pimm had the top swim (11:24) and run (21:48)
splits to follow up on her win at Wasaga Beach.
The Sprint Duathlon witnessed a dominating performance by Rochelle Martin. She posted top splits in all categories to take the overall women’s win, and defend her title from last year. Young Jesse Burt took the race out hard during the first run, but soon afterwards Jim Blair took to the front and held on for the race win.
Sunday morning may have had a slight
chill in the air but the beautiful sunny skies set the mood for an amazing
final day of racing.
Crystal Drummond put up solid all around splits to take the women’s win in the Olympic Triathlon, while Mark Linseman hammered out a race best 40 km bike (1:00:45) and 10 km run (39:12) to win the overall race by close to 8 minutes.
Scott Finch, a two-time winner in
Lakeside last year, won the International Duathlon by an 8:06 margin. Haley
Tyers established a decisive lead after the first two run and bike segments,
and ran steady to the line for a comfortable victory.
Michael Da Ponte and Rebecca Skillen attained victories on the GT 12.9 thanks to great bike and run combinations, and Dave Thornburrow and Theresa Guy put together strong final two segments to win the Give It a Du event.
Melanie McPherson, our inspirational AWAD athlete, and You've Been Shot Award winner from Bracebridge, returned to race with us on Sunday and had this to say. “Thanks again for the opportunity to race at Lakeside, it was awesome, and I am now considered one of the most athletic and crazy people on my floor so thanks for that too! Also thought you'd like to know after the race I did manage to make it on time to start and finish the Terry Fox run! A full 5k on nothing but my forearm crutches! Thanks again Multisport you guys are all awesome! I'll train hard here at school and see you next summer.”
Make sure to visit MultiSport Canada Radio for post-race interviews with many of our race winners. Coming soon, we will have the return of the Faces of the MSC Series with Grant Darby, Cindy Lewis, Mike Cheliak, and many more.
Congratulations go out to all our first timers, welcome to the Triathlon/Duathlon family.

Thanks to everyone for another incredible season. Stay tuned for details about our Series Awards Celebration and our 2011 race calendar.

A Reminder to all Athletes
Maintaining great relationships with the communities hosting our races is essential to ensuring that these races are successful and continue to exist. Therefore, athletes, please remember to be courteous out on the race course. Not only to volunteers and fellow racers, but also to the residents of the community you are racing in. And just like when you are out training, you need to share the road. It is a race but we do not own the road. Adopting the spirit of sharing and co-operation will make it a better experience for all.
Thanks To All Of Our Sponsors
We extend our thanks to each and every sponsor and the local bike, running and triathlon shops in the communities where you race. Race entry fees never cover the complete cost of a particular race or series of races and without the sponsors there is no race or race series that would survive without their support. We hope that you all take a moment to check out our Series Sponsors below or visit the sponsors page and see what they do and look at the products they sell. Please thank them for supporting the sports of Triathlon and Duathlon by trying and using their products. If you do visit them please take a moment to thank them for supporting Triathlon, Duathlon and Kids races in Ontario.
