The Only Series With Personalized Race Awards
MultiSport Canada Triathlon Series makes sure we offer something special for race day award winners. As an age group winner, not only do you receive a medal but a FREE personalized Finishers Picture Award with the date, race location and your time. No other race or series provides this sort of award. Here is an award sample. For a larger version just click on the picture.
The new coupon system we started this year has been a fantastic success to date. Just to keep everyone clear on what happens with the photos after the race; here is a little breakdown of the things you can expect. It’s really important that you understand a little about the process so you can make sure you don’t miss out on your discount code, so here is a summary of what happens and what to do if you don’t get your email.
Mike Cheliak – My Sports Shooter takes all the photos after the race and processes them to the online gallery which becomes searchable by BIB and participant name. To make this happen a number of things occur:
1. The photos are uploaded
2. The photos get indexed (by BIB number)
3. The participant list is loaded
a. It’s very important to use a current email address when registering or you won’t get your post-race coupon and link
4. The coupon database is loaded
a. Top three age group winners (as recognized on race day – 5 or 10 year increments) receive a $10 off coupon
b. All other athletes receive a $5 off coupon
5. An email is sent to every competitor with a unique coupon code that is valid for one use only and expires in one week after issue (no exceptions)
6. You must place your order and use your coupon code at checkout
a. If your coupon isn’t working, DO NOT COMPLETE THE ORDER
b. Contact orders@mysportsshooter.com with your coupon code in the email
7. Your coupon is valid for any purchase including
a. The MultiSport Digital File which is a small resolution screen only photo with the custom race frame ($5)
b. The MultiSport Award which is a 5x7 print ready photo that can include your stats (you have to include stats in the comment section of checkout)
IF YOU DON’T GET A POST RACE EMAIL WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE END OF THE EVENT
1. Check your SPAM/JUNK box in your email client
2. If it isn’t there, please contact orders@mysportsshooter.com and make sure you include your BIB number.
I hope you continue to enjoy and take advantage of the coupons provided. It really is a great way to commemorate your racing efforts…from rookie to pro!
Sincerely,
Mike Cheliak, Owner/Operator, My Sports Shooter
My Sports Shooter - You’ve Been Shot Award

Cobourg Race Report & Results
After two consecutive years of wet weather, at this year's 7th annual Cobourg Triathlon and Duathlon weekend, all were treated to picture perfect conditions.

The weekend kicked off Saturday with the Ontario Provincial Triathlon Championships (Olympic Distance).

Port Elgin’s RJ Ross and Toronto’s Alison Wiley came out on top with the titles of Provincial Champions. Ross came out of the water third, then rode a crushing 40 km bike split of 1:05:17 to take a huge lead onto the run crossing the line in 2:03:06, 7:18 ahead of Toronto’s Andrew Imrie, who ran himself into second with the best 10 km run of 34:54. Wiley, a silver medalist at the 1983 World Cross Country Championships, repeated her win from last year. After a starting the bike ride over 7 minutes down to St. George’s Angela Quick, Wiley made up that gap during the bike ride with a top split of 1:12:29, then used her run (39:55) to further separate herself from the rest of her pursuers. Kitchener’s Amy Mausser posted solid splits in all segments to snatch second from Quick – who was still feeling the affects of the National Championships last week.
All triathletes that qualified (top 2 per 5 year age group) and are interested in accepting their spots to the 2011 World Championships have one week to do so. Visit the following link to find out how to register.

Competing in his first duathlon, Ottawa’s Max Reede led the International Duathlon from start to finish with top splits in all 3 segments. He finished in 2:07:35, ahead of Pickering’s James Meloche (2:16:08). Toronto’s Renee Lung used her run to win the women’s race. Lung led the first 10 km run and most of the 40 km bike until Etobicoke’s Tatjana Zaharova grabbed the lead near the end of the ride. Lung then cranked up the speed for the final 5 km run to take the win in 2:34:44, leaving Zaharova to settle for second (2:36:04). In the Swim/Bike race, Toronto’s Jim Weir and North York’s Irene Irwin both put together top swim and bike combinations to take their overall wins.
Sunday started off bright and early with the GT 12.9. Ancaster’s Kent Hambly, a member of the Hamilton Hammerheads, exited the water first and carried that position right through to the finish to win by over 3 minutes (37:55). Mississauga’s Edward Dillon finished second overall (41:07). Leanne Kodama of Mississauga, took to win for the women. She led the swim (second out of the water), lost ground on the bike to Toronto’s Lynn O’Connor, but outran O’Connor to win in 45:04. O’Connor was second in 46:35.
The Sprint Triathlon featured a few of Canada’s future triathlon stars. Second at the Junior Elite National Championships last weekend, Port Hope’s Dominika Jamnicky set the tone early with the top women’s 750 m swim (11:15), and fought off stomach issues on the run to win her second Cobourg Sprint triathlon in a row (1:12:46). Local athlete, Jessica Fraser-Thomas finished second (1:14:43). St. George’s Derek Quick, tenth at the Junior National Championships, hammered the swim (9:45), rode a hard 20 km to pad the lead, and ran the final 5 km steady to take the victory (1:07:03). Komoka’s Ryan Power chased hard to finish in second (1:08:10).

Tim Doris used the hometown advantage to earn the win in the Sprint Duathlon. Doris led from wire to wire, not letting up for a second (he was the only runner to go sub 10 minutes for the final 2.5 km run) crossing the line in 1:06:03. Peter Hennessy, also of Cobourg, finished second (1:09:37). The women’s race saw a battle between Port Hope’s Jennifer Reid and Cobourg’s Janet Hozleiter. Reid took a 1:12 lead onto the bike, where Hozleiter passed Reid, however, Reid re-gained the lead in T2 (15 second margin), and ran to victory in 1:20:00. Hozleiter finished just 47 seconds behind.

Make sure to visit MultiSport Canada Radio for post-race interviews with many of our race winners.
Congratulations go out to all our first timers, welcome to the Triathlon/Duathlon family.

Thanks for joining us at Cobourg, we hope to see you again at Wasaga Beach and/or Lakeside.

A Reminder to all Athletes
Maintaining great relationships with the communities hosting our races is essential to ensuring that these races are successful and continue to exist. Therefore, athletes, please remember to be courteous out on the race course. Not only to volunteers and fellow racers, but also to the residents of the community you are racing in. And just like when you are out training, you need to share the road. It is a race but we do not own the road. Adopting the spirit of sharing and co-operation will make it a better experience for all.
Thanks To All Of Our Sponsors
We extend our thanks to each and every sponsor and the local bike, running and triathlon shops in the communities where you race. Race entry fees never cover the complete cost of a particular race or series of races and without the sponsors there is no race or race series that would survive without their support. We hope that you all take a moment to check out our Series Sponsors below or visit the sponsors page and see what they do and look at the products they sell. Please thank them for supporting the sports of Triathlon and Duathlon by trying and using their products. If you do visit them please take a moment to thank them for supporting Triathlon, Duathlon and Kids races in Ontario.
