Binbrook Bike Course - An Apology From The City of Hamilton
We have been asked by a couple of athletes why the Ride To Conquer Cancer bike was on part of our course this past Sunday. I felt it was best to address and clarify the situation by adding a few words in the post-race report.
Every January we submit a detailed race plan to the police, advise the special events department of our event and obtain the necessary permissions and permits for road use from the various communities. At that time we are advised if there are any potential conflicts so as to make changes or alternate plans. We followed this process this past January and were confident that everything was in order.
Unfortunately, we were not informed by the local municipality about the new additional event with the Ride To Conquer Cancer and did not find out about it until the night before our race. By then it was too late to make alternative plans or changes.
We have been in touch with the respective municipal departments and expressed our displeasure over not being informed of the new route for the Ride To Conquer Cancer and the inconvenience this caused some of our customers.
On Monday June 14th we received an apology from the City of Hamilton and they have asked us to extend this apology to our customers. Apparently the new Ride To Conquer Cancer route was not finalized until very recently and they have acknowledged that we should have been informed.
We hope you were not inconvenienced by this situation and that your race experience with us was still an excellent one.

Binbrook Race Report & Results
Everyone got wet, everyone got muddy, but most of all everyone had fun at this past Sunday’s Binbrook Triathlon, Duathlon, and GT 12.9 races.
Despite the moist air, and soggy ground, spectators and participants alike we treated to fast racing.

The Triathlon saw the brother-sister combination of Derek and Angela Quick both taking the overall wins by coming out of the water first and leading the race wire to wire. While in the Duathlon, Emmanuel Denou laid down a 45:34 bike split to earn his win, and Barbara Eddy used her run to edge out Lucy Elcome for the women’s victory, making this her second win in a row after winning the Woodstock Spring Duathlon last week. The day ended with the GT 12.9 race, and it was a competition dominated by a bunch of Hammerheads. Rui Xu and Chelsea Mackinnon (also a winner here last year), members of the Hamilton Hammerhead Triathlon Club, won the men’s and women’s races and the race (especially the top 5) were littered with many of their team members. It was incredible to see the future of our sport battle it out at Binbrook.
But did you know that there was an unofficial fourth event? A few of our racers decided to “do the double.” Murray Legge won the men’s 55-59 category in the triathlon then raced the GT 12.9 and won his age group there too, placing 9th overall. While, Robert Esplin (biking up a storm this year) was fifth overall in the duathlon, won his 45-49 age group, then raced the GT 12.9 and finished second in his category there. This is no small feat – that last 2.5 km sure seems a lot further the second time around. Great job gentlemen!

Thanks to all athletes, volunteers, sponsors, and spectators for coming out and contributing to a successful day at Binbrook. And congratulations go out to all our first timers!

Make sure to visit MultiSport Canada Radio for post-race interviews with many of our race winners.
Thanks for joining us at Binbrook, we hope to see you at our next race weekend in Welland.

Larry Bradley's Race Report

The weather could not dampen my spirits as I headed towards southwest side of Hamilton early Sunday morning. I knew rain was in the forecast but I was not about to pull out of another race this season because of the poor conditions we have received over the past few weeks. Right away, it started to drizzle very slightly as I began my trip across the 403.
It was patchy wetness along the lower Halton Region so I was not exactly sure what would be in store at the site in the Binbrook Conservation Area..........read the rest of the report here...
A Reminder to all Athletes
Maintaining great relationships with the communities hosting our races is essential to ensuring that these races are successful and continue to exist. Therefore, athletes, please remember to be courteous out on the race course. Not only to volunteers and fellow racers, but also to the residents of the community you are racing in. And just like when you are out training, you need to share the road. It is a race but we do not own the road. Adopting the spirit of sharing and co-operation will make it a better experience for all.
Thanks To All Of Our Sponsors
We extend our thanks to each and every sponsor and the local bike, running and triathlon shops in the communities where you race. Race entry fees never cover the complete cost of a particular race or series of races and without the sponsors there is no race or race series that would survive without their support. We hope that you all take a moment to check out our Series Sponsors below or visit the sponsors page and see what they do and look at the products they sell. Please thank them for supporting the sports of Triathlon and Duathlon by trying and using their products. If you do visit them please take a moment to thank them for supporting Triathlon, Duathlon and Kids races in Ontario.
